Blindness affects more than 2.2 billion people worldwide, and it is not only a health issue, but also a social and economic one. Blindness prevents people from earning a living, accessing education, and participating in their communities.
Many cases of blindness are avoidable or treatable, especially cataracts. Cataracts are a condition where the lens of the eye becomes cloudy and blocks the vision. Cataracts can be easily removed with a simple surgery that restores sight and transforms lives.
